5 Powerful Supplements to Take During Cancer Treatments

Share Button

I’ve been living with multiple myeloma since my cancer diagnosis in early 1994. Nutritional supplementation is the cornerstone of my own cancer care and it has been for more than twenty years now.

For example:

  • I take milk thistle to detoxify my liver and kidneys- two key organs that were exposed to a great deal of toxicity from my chemotherapy and radiation therapies.
  • I take CoQ10 to support my chemotherapy-induced Cardiomyopathy. I believe that had I supplemented with CoQ10 during my induction therapy I may have been able to prevent much if not all of the damage to my heart.

Conventional oncology, in my opinion anyway, has strengths and weaknesses. Nutritional supplementation is my way of smoothing out the weaknesses.

Let me know if you have any questions about nutritional supplementation.

Thanks and hang in there,

David Emerson

If you are going through treatments for cancer, you may already be familiar with various complementary therapies designed to relieve your discomfort. Cancer treatments can take a grim toll on the mind, body, and spirit, and finding a supplemental treatment that makes you more comfortable can be a relief while you are recovering.

Several natural supplements can help relieve some of the side effects of cancer treatments. Blended mixtures of herbs and vitamins can help you deal with your cancer treatments and strengthen your body.

Before starting a supplement routine as a complementary therapy, it’s essential to talk to your doctor. Rich supplements from Wellspring Meds, including cat’s claw and ginger, may remedy some of the trials of cancer treatment. Let’s look at a few powerful supplements to take during your treatment.

Cat’s Claw

Teas made from cat’s claw bark have been used for centuries to help boost your immune system. Cat’s claw can be used to treat wounds, arthritis, and intestinal issues. The anti-inflammatory agents present in cat’s claw help to boost immunity, making it a powerful supplement that fights cancerous cell development in the body. Cat’s claw is often prescribed to patients with weakened immune systems due to chemotherapy or radiation treatments. Cat’s claw can be consumed in a tea or a supplement capsule in 500 – 1000mg dosages or an extract mixed with food or beverages.

Ginger

Ginger is a well-known herb that helps calm the stomach and prevent nausea. Many cancer patients have to deal with the stomach-turning effects of chemotherapy treatment. This violent nausea can be disruptive and uncomfortable. Ginger root can help to stave off stomach issues associated with cancer treatments. Take a daily ginger supplement, eat raw ginger or drink ginger tea to relieve your nausea.

Milk Thistle

Milk thistle has been used worldwide to treat liver and kidney-related ailments. During cancer treatments, your liver and kidneys can become inflamed and lack efficiency. Milk thistle contains a powerful flavonoid complex known as silymarin. This compound has been proven to aid cancer treatments to destroy harmful cells while supporting your renal and liver systems.

Echinacea

Echinacea has many powerful benefits, including providing a boost to your immune system. It is also known to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties. Studies have shown that echinacea can help rebuild the white blood cells in your system following chemotherapy treatments allowing you to recover more quickly.

Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful quinone compound that can help fight cancer, reduce body fat, and slow the signs of aging. This unique supplement helps to jumpstart your metabolism, which can be significantly impaired during cancer treatments. Coenzyme Q10 may also play a role in protecting against damage to the heart muscles following chemotherapy, as it combats free radical activity.

If you are suffering from the side effects of cancer treatments, talk to your doctor about trying one of these powerful supplements. Keeping your immune system strong, reducing treatment-related nausea, and reducing inflammation can help you fight against your cancer.

My friend has a recent diagnosis of Myeloma. I checked Wellspring Meds and they don’t have cat’s claw or ginger supplements, do you shop with another online company that you trust for these supplements. Thank you, I’m compiling information to send to her.

    Hi MG-

I don’t take Cat’s Claw or Ginger. My formula of curcumin (Life Extension Curcumin elite) is similar to ginger root.

    Thanks,
