5 High Percentage C-B-D Oil Strains- Myeloma

“But the characteristic that causes C-B-D (cannabinoids) to stand out, particularly in the mainstream media, is that it produces none of the psychoactive “high” effects for which T-H-C is famous…”

I don’t like the feeling of being high. There, I said it. Fortunately for me then, is the fact that C-B-D oil has little of the ingredient that gets a person high (psychoactive).  I am a long-term multiple myeloma (MM) survivor and MM cancer coach so I want to learn all I can about the health benefits of C-B-D oil. Benefits for myeloma survivors like me…

Myeloma survivors and caregivers frequently contact me asking about C-B-D oil and its possible efficacy as a therapy for them. Unfortunately, I can make only general statements related to the ideas outlined below.

While research (linked below) cites the benefits of cannabidiol for MM patients and survivors, an often overlooked but important issue is the quantity of cannabinoids IN C-B-D oil.

In addition, how the MM patient/survivor finds and then purchases the cannabidiol is overlooked.

Acknowledging these two challenges, I’ve written this post simply to list “strains” of C-B-D oil that have high percentages of cannabinoids.

Studies of cannabinoids, while still somewhat thin, indicate that

I follow an anti-MM diet, an anti-MM nutritional supplementation regimen and I may also be able to supplement with a non-psychotropic, high cannabinoid C-B-D oil.

But here’s the thing. Many C-B-D oils have a very low percentage of cannabinoids IN them. Since it is cannabinoids that are the medicine aka the good stuff, then low percentages of the good stuff is not what I want. I want as high a percentage of cannabinoids IN the C-B-D oil I buy as possible.

Another fly in the ointment is that C-B-D strains are all over the place, from the perspective of availability. I want to be able to walk into a medical marijuana dispensary and ask for the highest cannabinoid percentage C-B-D oil possible.

The article linked and excerpted below is light on evidence-based sources. The article refers to cannabinoid content for specific strains but I have no idea of the validity of these statements.

Five High Cannabinoid C-B-D Strains

“Cannabidiol, more commonly shortened to C-B-D, is the cannabinoid responsible for changing the conversation about medical marijuana…

C-B-D is the second most abundant cannabinoid found in cannabis, behind its acclaimed counterpart tetrahydrocannabinol (T-H-C). But the characteristic that causes C-B-D to stand out, particularly in the mainstream media, is that it produces none of the psychoactive “high” effects for which T-H-C is famous…

Studies on animals have shown a wide variety of medicinal benefits from CBD included but not limited to:

  • Suppressing seizures
  • Reducing nausea and vomiting
  • Alleviating psychological disorders
  • Soothing inflammatory disorders
  • Combatting tumor and cancer cells
  • Improving neurodegenerative disorders
  • Treating anxiety and depression disorders
  • Preventing the progression of diabetes
  • Relieving severe nerve and/or bone pain
  • Calming symptoms of PTSD such as schizophrenia

Sour Tsunami, one of the first strains bred specifically for high C-B-D and low T-H-C, will immediately wash your pain away. It typically tests up to 11% C-B-D with T-H-C less than 10%, making for a nice and balanced 1:1 ratio…

Cannatonic is a migraine-melting strain out of Spain that’s one of the first strains bred for a high C-B-D ratio. Created by Resin Seeds, it has a mild sweet pine flavor but packs a punch with its consistently high C-B-D percentages (up to 23%!)…Supposedly, it relieves pain, anxiety, muscle spasms and migraines while uplifting your energy. It’s known for its ability to relax and loosen muscles without the couch-lock effect…

Harlequin  It is loved for its consistent 5:2 ratio of C-B-D:T-H-C (ranges about 8-16% CBD to 4-7% THC).

The Remedy is one of my personal favorite C-B-D-rich strains because it’s extremely rich in terpenes while also having one of the highest C-B-D:T-H-C ratios (15:1). Not only does The Remedy have a high ratio but it consistently tests at around 15% C-B-D…It’s a powerful combatant to seizures, pain, anxiety, inflammation, and autism while also providing deep body relaxation.

C-B-D OG Testing upwards of 19% C-B-D, this cross of Trident and Skywalker OG. C-B-D OG runs Indica-dominant and has worked wonders on symptoms of PTSD, chronic pain, anxiety, inflammation and muscle tension. Plus, it serves a dose of CBG on the side which is the best cannabinoid for chronic sleep issues…

3 High CBD / Low THC Marijuana Strains

Charlotte’s Web (The World’s Most Famous Marijuana Strain)

This world famous strain is indica dominant (60%) and was the focus of a bid to legalize high CBD strains. It helped reduce the seizures of Charlotte Figi, and it has a CBD content as high as 20%. Charlotte’s Web is extremely low in THC which means it can be sold as a food supplement.

Obviously, there is no ‘high’ associated with this strain, and it provides users with no cerebral effect. In fact, if it weren’t for its pain relieving ability, you wouldn’t even realize you’ve taken anything. Charlotte’s Web is typically consumed in C-B-D oil form rather than being smoked.

As well as its known effectiveness when treating pediatric seizure disorders such as Dravet’s Syndrome, Charlotte’s Web is used to help with migraines, fatigue, fibromyalgia, muscle spasms, and arthritis..

Ringo’s Gift (The Marijuana Strain That Has Nothing to do With Ringo Starr!)

This is a slightly sativa dominant (60%) strain with a CBD: THC ratio as high as 20:1. You can find strains of Ringo’s Gift with up to 20% CBD and as little as 1% THC. It is a cross of ACDC and Harle-Tsu; both are known for their high level of CBD…

Harle-Tsu (The Painkilling Marijuana Strain)

This indica dominant (60%) strain is a cross of Sour Tsunami and Harlequin strains and contains up to 22% CBD against less than 1% THC. It is a relatively rare bud, but we imagine that won’t be the case for long given its popularity…

Relapsed Multiple Myeloma- C-B-D Strength/Dosing Info

We wanted to know the specifics connected with the research from the article, we want to find out the specific C-B-D strength/measurements and dosing and how effected with body weight.

Hello David -Thank yourself sharing your information, I read the article about C-B-D synergizing Velcade. My mother has relapsed multiple myeloma again and she is about to start 6th chemo course (she has had 2 prior autologous stem cell transplants).

We wanted to know the specifics connected with the research from the article, we want to find out the specific C-B-D strength/measurements and dosing and how effected with body weight.

If you can advise us or help us by pointing us in the right direction it would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you, Ginny and Kathy

Hi G and K- I am sorry to read of your mom’s MM diagnosis. It sounds like you both are working hard to manage her MM.
Regarding C-B-D and MM. I know of no studies that specify doses for CBD oil as an integrative therapy for MM chemo. Or I should say that studies often use the phrase “time and dose dependant manner.”
Secondly, as much as dose matters, the percentage of cannabinoids IN the C-B-D oil matters more. The challenge you face is that each state and its medical marijuana dispensaries carry different strains of C-B-D oil and therefore carries oils with different percentages. I will link a blog post that I wrote that includes the names of several strains and the cannabinoid content. This will give you an idea of what I am talking about.
Lastly, regarding integrative therapies. When I say “integrative” I am referring to a therapy such as C-B-D oil that has been shown to enhance the activity of a conventional therapy (bortezomib/velcade, in this case). There are other evidence-based integrative therapies that also enhance specific MM chemotherapies.
I beiieve that your mom should undergo a variety of non-conventional, non-toxic therapies in conjuncton with conventional therapies in order to enhance what she is doing in order to strengthen as many cytotoxic therapies as possible for MM.

Cancer Coaching- What is the Best Brand of C-B-D oil for Myeloma?

“But the characteristic that causes C-B-D to stand out, particularly in the mainstream media, is that it produces none of the psychoactive “high” effects for which T-H-C is famous.”

C-B-D kills multiple myeloma and enhances Velcade

“These results showed that Cannabidiol by itself or in synergy with BORT strongly inhibited growth, arrested cell cycle progression and induced MM cells death by regulating the ERK, AKT and NF-κB pathways with major effects in TRPV2+ cells. These data provide a rationale for using CBD to increase the activity of proteasome inhibitors in MM.”

The effects of cannabidiol and its synergism with bortezomib in multiple myeloma cell lines. A role for transient receptor potential vanilloid type-2.

“Multiple myeloma (MM) is a plasma cell (PC) malignancy characterised by the accumulation of a monoclonal PC population in the bone marrow (BM). Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid with antitumoural activities, and the transient receptor potential vanilloid type-2 (TRPV2) channel has been reported as a potential CBD receptor.

TRPV2 activation by CBD decreases proliferation and increases susceptibility to drug-induced cell death in human cancer cells. However, no functional role has been ascribed to CBD and TRPV2 in MM.

In this study, we identified the presence of heterogeneous CD138+TRPV2+ and CD138+TRPV2- PC populations in MM patients, whereas only the CD138+ TRPV2- population was present in RPMI8226 and U266 MM cell lines.

Because bortezomib (BORT) is commonly used in MM treatment, we investigated the effects of CBD and BORT in CD138+TRPV2- MM cells and in MM cell lines transfected with TRPV2 (CD138+TRPV2+).

These results showed that CBD by itself or in synergy with BORT strongly inhibited growth, arrested cell cycle progression and induced MM cells death by regulating the ERK, AKT and NF-κB pathways with major effects in TRPV2+ cells.

These data provide a rationale for using CBD to increase the activity of proteasome inhibitors in MM.”

Hello David, Hope you are doing well. I have been up against MMT4;14 for close to 8 years, 3 years undiagnosed based on my symptoms, final stage was my initial diagnosis hemoglobin of 51 so I am fortunate to be here 8 years later, No asct, pretty sure it would only accelerate my departure.
Used full plant extract high thc and cbd oil during 4 months of treatments which I stopped.
My cancer returned 2.5 years ago and only using high concentrations of full plant extract cbd cbg etc.
Felt good but now need to return to treatment. in Canada, my haematologist will not put me back on velcade low dose with integrative cbd and thc
Will only prescribe cyclophosphamide and dex. This is on Canada health care system( some provinces better than others, so if you don’t follow their plans they basically stop paying for seniors drug coverage of these older proteome inhibitors. I also have an Mm specialist at Toronto’s Princess Margaret Cancer centre site you have heard it is a world class treatment center and research
My M spike is quite high 70g/Ltr
I have had scans showing no lesions or tumours at all (I suspect the cannibinoids are what stopped the lesions.
I am trying to figure what level of cyclophosphamide and dex would be best, I take 100-200 mg of tested full plant extract 2000mg/50ml cbd oil under my tongue daily.
I know each of us is so different and can have same cancers with different results.
My oncologist is freaked by my attitude of living with my myeloma and treating it as minimally as possible.
Any thoughts would be great.
Even though I have this translocation my attitude is to live a long healthy life.
I have no other health issues just need a little support on my journey to better health.
Take care David, hope to hear from you Rob
