Being stage 3, I decided to undergo Folfox chemotherapy following the surgery to remove my tumor. I want to reduce my risk of relapse as much as possible.
I did twelve rounds of chemo over six months, plus all my integrative therapies, including fenbendazole. I’ve had some success managing the leg heaviness after chemo with colostrum– specifically Armra.
I did a lot of research into both integrative and complementary therapies. My goal was to enhance my conventional chemo (Folfox) while minimizing side effects. Specifically, the integrative therapies that I focused on were:

One of the most common questions colorectal cancer survivors ask is:
“How long will this neuropathy last?”
Unfortunately, there is no simple answer.
For some patients, the numbness, tingling, cold sensitivity, and burning sensations caused by FOLFOX improve within months. For others, symptoms persist for years—and in some cases may never completely disappear.
The reason is that the neuropathy associated with FOLFOX is primarily caused by oxaliplatin, one of the three drugs in the regimen. Oxaliplatin can damage sensory nerves, particularly in the hands and feet, resulting in what is known as chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN).
The encouraging news is that many survivors experience gradual improvement over time, and research continues to identify strategies that may support nerve recovery and improve quality of life.
FOLFOX neuropathy may improve within a few months after treatment for some patients, but symptoms can persist for years in others. Studies have found that approximately one-third of colorectal cancer survivors still report neuropathy five years after treatment, while some studies report symptoms lasting 2–11 years after oxaliplatin therapy. Recovery depends on cumulative dose, severity of nerve damage, age, and individual factors.
FOLFOX neuropathy occurs in two phases.
Acute neuropathy typically begins during treatment.

Researchers call this phenomenon “coasting.”
Nerve symptoms can continue progressing for several months after the final oxaliplatin dose before improvement begins. Long-term studies show that although many patients improve, complete recovery is not guaranteed.
Historically, clinicians believed oxaliplatin neuropathy was largely reversible within six months.
However, more detailed neurological testing has shown that recovery often takes much longer than originally thought.
Patients with severe neuropathy may require months of recovery before meaningful improvement occurs.
Large clinical trials have found that neuropathy remains common years after treatment.
Patients receiving six months of oxaliplatin experienced significantly higher rates of persistent neuropathy than those treated for three months.
One of the most important studies followed colorectal cancer survivors for five years after adjuvant FOLFOX.
Researchers found that sensory neuropathy remained common years after treatment and continued to affect daily functioning and quality of life.
Another long-term analysis found that neuropathy lasting more than five years occurred in approximately:
These findings suggest that longer oxaliplatin exposure substantially increases the risk of permanent nerve damage.
Perhaps the most sobering research comes from studies showing neuropathy symptoms persisting 2–11 years after oxaliplatin treatment. Researchers also found that neuropathy remained present in approximately two-thirds of long-term colorectal cancer survivors.
