I am alive today because when I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, I found the treatment that ultimately saved my life by doing research online.
I often tell people that the internet saved my life.
Knowing how much information is out there about cancer treatments, and realizing that cancer patients and caregivers have a limited amount of time and energy to devote to sifting through and evaluating information about their specific cancer, I started The Galen Foundation DBA PeopleBeatingCancer.org as way to provide cancer survivors with vetted, evidence-based information that they can use to make informed decisions about their cancer care.
To put this in perspective, when I reached end-stage multiple myeloma in September of 1997, I had to research cancer therapies beyond the FDA approved standard-of-care. And the internet was the ideal tool for this.
The Galen Foundation DBA PeopleBeatingCancer is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit and copies of our recent 990s can be found here. We are both a fee-for-service and donor-supported non-profit. This means that we are funded through both the revenues generated by our cancer coaching as well as through the generosity of individuals, foundations, corporations, and organizations.
It is our mission to serve cancer survivors and caregivers with educational resources on the full-spectrum of evidence-based cancer treatment options. I believe that informed decisions lead to longer, healthier lives.
Thank you for considering a gift to the Galen Foundation! Your donation will help us continue to provide free online cancer information, education and support to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers the world over.
