Iodine- Reduce Breast Cancer Risk, Reduce Relapse Risk

“This altered endocrine state may increase the risk of breast, endometrial, and ovarian cancer. Increasing dietary iodine intake may reduce the risk of these cancers”

Whether you want to prevent breast cancer (BC) or you’ve been diagnosed with BC you want to learn about both conventional and non-conventional therapies to manage your risks. Consider iodine (IO)supplementation as a simple yet effective therapy.

Seaweed: Iodine is primarily found in sea vegetables as well as seafood. One of the richest sources of it would include a seaweed called kelp.

I am both a cancer survivor and cancer coach. Years of research has produced a growing number of evidence-based non-toxic BC therapies such as dietary iodine. Whether you are interested in reducing your risk of a BC diagnosis or a relapse of BC, consider dietary iodine.

Cheese: Almost all dairy items are enriched with iodine. When it comes to cheese your best options would be Cheddar and Mozzarella.
Have you been diagnosed with BC? If so, what stage? Please scroll down the page, post a question or comment and I will reply to you ASAP.

Thank you,

David Emerson

DIETARY IODINE AND RISK OF BREAST, ENDOMETRIAL, AND OVARIAN CANCER

“Geographic differences in the rates of breast, endometrial, and ovarian cancer appear to be inversely correlated with dietary IO intake. Endocrinological considerations suggest that a low dietary iodine intake may produce a state of increased effective gonadotrophin stimulation, which in turn may produce a hyperœstrogenic state characterised by relatively high production of œstrone and œstradiol and a relatively low œstriol to œstrone plus œstradiol ratio. This altered endocrine state may increase the risk of breast, endometrial, and ovarian cancer. Increasing dietary IO intake may reduce the risk of these cancers…”

Iodine Alters Gene Expression in the MCF7 BC Cell Line: Evidence for an Anti-Estrogen Effect of Iodine

“The protective effects of IO on breast cancer have been postulated from epidemiologic evidence and described in animal models. The molecular mechanisms responsible have not been identified but laboratory evidence suggests that IO may inhibit cancer promotion through modulation of the estrogen pathway.

To elucidate the role of IO in BC, the effect of Lugol’s iodine solution (5% I2, 10% KI) on gene expression was analyzed in the estrogen responsive MCF-7 breast cancer cell line. Microarray analysis identified 29 genes that were up-regulated and 14 genes that were down-regulated in response to iodine/iodide treatment. The altered genes included several involved in hormone metabolism as well as genes involved in the regulation of cell cycle progression, growth and differentiation…”
