“There are no proven special diets to treat multiple myeloma. However, there are specific nutrition strategies that can be used to treat common symptoms, such as kidney damage and anemia, as well as to reduce cancer recurrence.”

I have survived an “incurable cancer,” multiple myeloma (MM), since 1994. I can tell you that nutrition is an essential complementary therapy in my battle to fight cancer. Studies confirm that nutritional antioxidants (food or supplements) help cancer patients endure chemotherapy better with fewer side effects. Keep in mind however, that if you have to think all day about what you eat and how you prepare it, you may have a difficult time achieving your nutritional goals.

  • fast, easy, delicious
  • complete with protein, antioxidants, fresh fruits and veggies
  • easy to clean-up

The solution? My wife gave me a Nutri Bullet 12-Piece Hi-Speed Blender/Mixer System for Christmas in 2013. I blend a smoothie every school-day morning for me and my son before I take Alex to school. In other words I am making breakfast for both me and my son and I need to incorporate the three bullet points above.

My version of “fast, easy, delicious?” Chop a banana (texture) and add whatever is in the fridge, berries, apples, nuts, whatever. Add some frozen fruit if you want to chill your smoothie. To make it tart, add orange juice. To make it sweeter, add coconut water.

My version of protein and antioxidants? Garden of Life RAW Organic Protein Powder and Navitas Naturals Organic Antioxidant Superfruit Blend, 8-Ounce Pouches. The fresh fruit or veggies will carry the flavor. The powders do the heavy nutritional lifting.

  • “100% Certified Organic, non-GMO, raw, kosher, gluten-free, vegan
  • A blend of some of the most antioxidant rich fruits on earth: goji berries, acai berries, and pomegranate
  • Rich in vitamins and minerals including beta-carotene, B vitamins, vitamins C and E, along with amino acids, potassium, germanium and iron
  • Eat right out of the bag or sprinkle on food such as salads, yogurts and fresh fruit”

Pour half the smoothie in a glass for your child and drink the other half yourself. Rinse the indestructible plastic container and you are done. The Nutri Bullet comes with a recipe book.

Certainly the other meals during your day are important in pursuing anti-cancer nutrition. My goal is to start my day with a leg up on my daily dose of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fiber and protein, etc.

And my son loves my smoothies. Fast, Nutritious, Easy, Delicious…

I am both a cancer survivor and cancer coach. Surviving cancer, any cancer is difficult. I can help. For more information about both conventional and non-conventional cancer therapies scroll down the page, post a question or a comment and I will reply ASAP.

Multiple Myeloma Diet

“The right kinds of foods in your diet can give you the best balance of nutrients and help with your symptoms or the side effects of treatment. Ask your dietitian about adding these foods to your daily diet:

Fiber. If you have constipation from chemotherapy, you may want to boost the fiber in your diet…

Bland foods. On the other hand, if you’re dealing with diarrhea, your doctor may have you eat a low-fiber diet known as the BRAT diet..

Iron. The cancer cells that build up in your bone marrow may crowd out your healthy blood cells…

itamins and minerals. Your doctor or dietitian may suggest that you take a daily supplement to make sure you get enough nutrients to stay healthy. These may include…
